Timothy West has sadly passed away at the age of 90.
As reported by BBC News, the actor's family confirmed that West passed away in his sleep, "with his friends and family at the end".

His three children remembered their father for his "long and extraordinary life on and off the stage".
West, a stalwart of British stage and screen, carved out a remarkable career spanning nearly eight decades.
Born on October 20, 1934, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, he nurtured his passion for acting from a young age, influenced by his parents who were both involved in the theatre.
Throughout his storied career, West has tackled a vast array of roles across theatre, film, and television.
He is perhaps best known for his work in classical theatre, including numerous performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). His portrayals of iconic characters such as King Lear, Falstaff, and Uncle Vanya have been lauded for their profound humanity and complexity.

West's television career is equally distinguished. He has appeared in popular TV series such as Coronation Street, where he played the lovable rogue Eric Babbage, and EastEnders, portraying the part of Stan Carter.
In the realm of film, West has participated in a variety of projects, from historical dramas to modern thrillers. Notable films include Iris (2001), where he played the older version of Jim Broadbent's character, John Bayley, and Ever After (1998), a Cinderella story set in Renaissance-era France.
Off the screen and boards, he married Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales in 1963. The couple has two sons, Samuel and Joseph West. Samuel has followed in his parents' footsteps to become an accomplished actor and director.
West was also married to actress Jacqueline Boyer from 1956 to 1961, with whom he shares a daughter, Juliet.

West and Scales have worked together on various projects, including the charming series Great Canal Journeys "for Channel 4. The series, which features the couple exploring canal systems around the world, also subtly documents their journey dealing with Scales' dementia.
West’s legacy in the arts will extend beyond his performances, as he was also a strong advocate for the preservation of British theatre heritage, including his tenure as president of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).
West leaves "a sister, a daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren", the family said, adding: "All of us will miss him terribly.
