Controversial ex-kickboxer Andrew Tate has complained about the grim conditions he is facing in a Romanian prison.

The 36-year-old internet personality was arrested in December along with his brother Tristan and two unidentified people in connection with an investigation into alleged human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group.

They were imprisoned for 30 days and were due for release at the end of January, however, the Romanian court ruled that their confinement will be extended until February 27 while police build their case.

Now, the infamous social media star has penned his first email to fans since his detention, where he complained about the rough conditions of his prison cell.

Read Tate's email below:

The message read: "They are trying to break me. Thrown inside a cell without light. Cockroaches, lice, and bed bugs are my only friends at night."

Despite the allegedly abhorrent conditions of his cell, Tate maintains that he's a model prisoner, writing: "When the guards bring me to and from the courtroom, I stay absolutely respectful," adding that "they try to pour hatred into my heart".

"But please and thank you, you stick with me at all times," he said of his followers. "Our prison guards are just performing their jobs, they have families to feed in times of hardship. Do not forget your manners.

"They are trying to break my Iron Mind with unjust imprisonment. My absolute respect for everyone around me is my act of absolute rebellion. They cannot break me," he said, before claiming that the prison guards know he is "innocent".

The former four-time kickboxing world champion also took to his Twitter page to inform his 4.7 million supporters that they can send him mail to his email address.

On the same day of the contentious content creator's imprisonment, police raided his property and seized money, designer watches, and even weapons such as guns, swords, and a hatchet. Investigators were also seen hauling his luxury cars from their villa.

As formal charges have not been filed, neither Tate nor his brother have entered plea deals. Their defense attorney Constantin Ioan Gliga slammed the extended jail ruling as "unjustified and totally exaggerated," contending that they are being penalized for their views rather than "what they actually did in their private lives," per The New York Post.

In addition to this, the former Big Brother contestant's head of security Bogdan Stancu spoke to the BBC about his employer's arrest and said that his accusers are "stupid" for thinking that they would be "his next wife".

Meanwhile, the disgraced internet star has continued to maintain his innocence, writing to Twitter on January 19 that he is in captivity while they "'look'" for evidence that "they will never find because we are not guilty".

"They have and will continue to ignore and throw away any and all testimony or hard evidence we are innocent," he continued. "My case isn’t about the truth. This is about Politics."

As previously mentioned, Tate will remain in Romanian custody until February 27.
