Andy Cohen has gotten candid about life as a single father.

The 54-year-old TV host is currently promoting his new book The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up, which he spoke about to his longtime friend, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper at New York cultural center 92NY.

"I'm the only gay parent at Ben's nursery school and the only single parent, which is amazing, and I'm so grateful for our friendship because Ben sees Wyatt with two dads, and Ben's other friend, Adrian, has two dads," Cohen told Cooper, per People.

Cohen - who is best known for hosting all the Real Housewives reunions - also added: "[Ben] has been saying lately, 'I want another daddy, I want another daddy.' And it's so cool to me that he knows that it would be a daddy. My son has excellent gaydar, what can I say?" said Cohen, who is a doting dad to four-year-old son Ben and 12-month-old daughter Lucy.

During the live talk, a member of the audience asked Cohen what the biggest shock or adjustment has been since becoming a father to Ben and Lucy, at which point Cohen said: "Everything," before adding that he puts "extra pressure on himself as a single parent to be everything, and you know that you can't necessarily [do that]."

He also revealed that his mother, Evelyn, never envisioned that her son would ever become a father, given that he is gay. "I would talk about kids and my mom would say, 'You're never gonna do it, you are never gonna do it.' She just really never thought that I would have the cheishek [motivation] to actually do it."

Cohen has been in and out of the headlines in the past few months, but most notably for having to apologize for his drunken behavior on New Year's Eve in 2021, where he dragged New York City's mayor.

On January 3 2022, Cohen addressed his words on his SiriusXM radio show, Just Andy, with his co-host John Hill. "Only thing that I regret saying, the only thing is that I slammed the ABC broadcast and I really like Ryan Seacrest and he's a great guy and I really regret saying that. And I was just stupid and drunk and feeling it. I was continuing the Journey rant and I just kept talking and I shouldn't have and I felt bad about that," he said.
