Angelina Jolie has announced that her daughter Zahara Jolie-Pitt will be attending Spelman College in the fall.

The 47-year-old actress shared the exciting news in a sweet Instagram post on Sunday (July 31) about the joy for her 17-year-old's new journey in joining the historically Black women’s college.

"Zahara with her Spelman sisters!" the proud mom captioned the post, which featured her daughter posing with future Spelman classmates.

"Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl," she added, with a group of hashtags, including, "#SpelmanCollege," "#SpelmanSisters," and "#HBCU".

The Maleficent star was also spotted celebrating her daughter’s acceptance over the weekend at a Spelman and Morehouse College alumni event in Los Angeles, California.

In a video posted to Twitter and currently amassing over 453,000 views, Jolie can be seen laughing with fellow parents and dancing to the iconic electric slide.

One mom holds the Oscar-winning actress' hand as she shows her some of the dance moves until she steps out and embraces Zahara. Another parent fist bumps Jolie for giving the dance a shot.

Jolie adopted Zahara with her ex-husband Brad Pitt, from Ethiopia in 2005 when she was six months old. She also shares five other children with him: Maddox, 20, Pax, 18, Shiloh, 16, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 14.

Zahara is the second child to go to college after Maddox, who started his freshman year at Yonsei University in South Korea in 2019.

Jolie is known for her humanitarian work and also shares a passion for social justice with her daughter.

In 2021, the pair made a difference together during their trip to Washington, D.C., to talk with advocates and politicians for the Violence Against Women Act.

The Eternals actress has also spoken out about the significance of raising her daughter with the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of her cultural roots.

In July 2020, she shared how "in awe" she is of Zahara during a discussion with Ugandan climate activist Vanessa Nakate for TIME 100.

While talking about how U.S schools cover Black history in their curriculum, Jolie said: "I don’t know about the schools in Uganda, but I know in the United States there’s a very big question…My daughter is from Ethiopia, one of my children. And I have learned so much from her."

"She is my family, but she is an extraordinary African woman," she continued. "Her connection to her country, her continent, is very - it’s her own and it’s something I only stand back in awe of."

Congratulations to Zahara!
