Angus Cloud, best known for his starring role in Euphoria, shared a heartbreaking post on Instagram before his tragic death.
It was reported on Monday (July 31) that the young actor sadly passed away at the age of 25 after being found unresponsive at his family's home in Oakland.
Emergency services told NBC News that they were called to the house at around 11.30AM but the "patient was determined to already be deceased" upon arrival.
Cloud's bereaved family confirmed the devastating news in a statement to TMZ which read: "It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways."
The statement continued to shed light on his recent personal struggles, stating: "Last week he buried his father and intensely struggled with this loss. The only comfort we have is knowing Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his best friend.
"Angus was open about his battle with mental health and we hope that his passing can be a reminder to others that they are not alone and should not fight this on their own in silence."
The family concluded their statement with a request for privacy: "We hope the world remembers him for his humor, laughter, and love for everyone. We ask for privacy at this time as we are still processing this devastating loss."
While the exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be disclosed, the family's statement implies he had struggled to process his father's death.
Cloud's father, Conor Hickey, sadly passed away in Ireland in May. According to the Daily Mail, an obituary written by members of a rugby club with which he was associated claimed he passed away "after a short illness," without sharing further details.
The actor recently returned to the States from Ireland where the family laid Conor to rest, and reportedly stayed with relatives in Oakland to try and cope with the grief.
One of his final Instagram posts came on July 14 and it was a picture of his father smiling while donning a red hoodie and red sweats. The caption heartbreakingly read: "Miss u breh."
The post has now been flooded with tribute messages and condolences from Cloud's fans.
Cloud had minor acting credits in two films, North Hollywood and The Line, and had also appeared in music videos for artists including Becky G, Karol G, and Juice WRLD.
However, he rose to fame after starring as Fezco, a high school drug dealer in the HBO teen drama Euphoria. The role turned him into a breakout star, and his character was expanded in the second season.
After news of his death circulated on social media, HBO took to their Instagram to honor the star's memory, writing: "We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time."
Our thoughts are with Cloud's family, friends, and fans at this time.
