Arnold Schwarzenegger has brutally dragged Donald Trump, saying it’s "sad" that Republicans can’t find another frontrunner for the 2024 elections.
This week, President Joe Biden formally announced that he will be running for a second term, stating: "Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms. I believe this is ours. That’s why I’m running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job."
It is very possible that he will be going up against former president Trump, 76, who officially launched a bid for the Republican presidential nomination last November.
The twice-impeached former leader who tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election vowed to defeat Biden in 2024, declaring: "America's comeback starts now."
During an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, the 75-year-old Terminator star spoke about the rise in anti-Semitism, and regarding that conversation, the interviewer asked him about Trump.
Watch Schwarzenegger's interview below:Bash asked: "Donald Trump is now the frontrunner to be the nominee of your party, of the Republican party. Does that concern you?"
Schwarzenegger said it didn’t and explained: "Being a frontrunner of one party and letting them dig this hole deeper and deeper is going to make it easier for the Democrats to win."
"It’s sad to see that - that they couldn’t come up with a new talent, with a new face, that is a reasonable, smart, intelligent person that can lead this country in the Republican way," he continued.
When questioned if believed that Trump could win a presidential election again, the Hollywood star - who is also the former Republican California governor - bluntly said "No," and added: "He is maybe going to get the Republican nomination."
"Then when it comes down to the actual election, there’s too many people now that have seen what he did as president, that I think when it comes to the majority on election day, I think they will see the difference between one and the other."
"And believe me, I’m not the first one to say, 'Hey, this is really great to have Biden back as president.' No. But there’s just no better option, the way it looks right now," he concluded.
At the moment, the favorites in the race for the Republican nomination are the former Apprentice host and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis - who is deemed as a "more effective, less scandalous" version of the former president, per Politico.
Elsewhere in the interview, the True Lies actor remarked that the former POTUS' supporters - who believe the last US election was "stolen" - will believe it because "Trump is their man".
He also said there is an increasing problem of hatred around the world, adding: "Prejudice and hate go in so many different directions. It’s not if you believe the Trump election was stolen or not - it has nothing to do with Trump."
"All over the world, we have this problem now that there is this hate and this prejudice – and we’re talking about men against women, women against men, black against white, white against black, Americans against immigrants, immigrants against Americans," he said. "I just think that we have to defuse that."
