Benedict Cumberbatch says he is waiting for a Ukrainian family to arrive in the UK and be accommodated at his property.

Per Sky News, Cumberbatch said he joined a scheme that rehouses refugees. The family that is staying at his house hasn't arrived in the country yet, but he explained that he's been monitoring their progress.

The actor said: "Sadly, they are undergoing some medical treatment - to say anything more about that would be invasion of their privacy and too much about when they're coming and how that's being managed would invade mine - but I want to give them some stability after the turmoil that they've experienced, and that's within my home."

The Dr. Strange star also revealed he's been assisting other families of loved ones who are fleeing Ukraine by housing them in the UK.

"I've been trying to help other Ukrainian families - nationals that are UK citizens - to house their extended families en masse, which you know they want to do, but it's very costly," he explained. "So, I've been trying to help out with that financially in a couple of instances."

Cumberbatch was seen wearing the Ukrainian flag colors - blue and yellow - while promoting his new film: Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness in London on Tuesday.

He was joined by his castmates Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Wong as well as film director Sam Raimi on the red carpet at Trafalgar Square.

He also revealed that he is working through a UK charity called Refugees at Home which "connects those with a spare room in their home to refugees and asylum seekers in need of somewhere to stay" as well as psychological trauma support.

The Oscar nominee spoke at the British Academy Film Awards in March where he urged his Hollywood peers to donate to charities that help refugees. He also insisted that British politicians create some sort of refugee facility.

“We need to push our politicians to continue to create some kind of a refugee … haven here for people that are suffering,” Cumberbatch said. “Everyone needs to do as much as they can. I think already today the news has broke that there’s been a record number of people volunteering to take people into their homes. I hope to be part of that myself.”

The latest Marvel film Dr. Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness will be out in theaters on May 6.
