Saget's family has issued a statement confirming his death.

"We are devastated to confirm that our beloved Bob passed away today," they told Fox News. "He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter."

"Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world," the statement added.

Saget was touring the state and last performed on Saturday, January 8, in Jacksonville.

He tweeted about the show shortly after it ended, writing: "Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville. Appreciative audience. I had no idea I did a 2 hr set tonight. I’m happily addicted again to this s***."

He was set to be touring his stand-up show until May.

After the show he had expressed his joy at being back on stage in a post on his Instagram page, telling fans that he was "happily addicted" to his craft.

"I'm back in comedy like I was when I was 26. I guess I'm finding my new voice and loving every moment of it," he said.

Saget's career was kickstarted in 1987 when he was cast as Danny Tanner in ABC sitcom Full House.

He was also known for hosting America's Funniest Home Videos from 1989 to 1997 as well as being the voice of the future Ted Mosby in the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother.

In the later stages of his career, Saget returned to his stand-up roots, touring comedy shows around America.

Saget was currently hosting a podcast series titled Bob Saget’s Here For You, which released its latest episode last Monday, January 3.

Saget is survived by his wife Kelly Rizzo and three children.

The comedian's Full House co-star John Stamos led the tributes, writing on Twitter: "I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby."

Comedy Central's official Twitter account wrote: "Bob Saget was a beloved and boundary-pushing comedian. He’ll be missed."

Meanwhile, How I Met Your Mother star Josh Radnor paid tribute to Saget in a lengthy Twitter thread. In the thread, Radnor, 47, described his "special bond" with Saget as he reminisced about their time working together on the show.

"Bob Saget was the older wiser 'me' for nine years on How I Met Your Mother," the actor wrote. "He was the kindest, loveliest, funniest, most supportive man. The easiest person to be around. A mensch among mensches."

"I had so much imposter syndrome when HIMYM started, thought I'd be found out, kicked off set & sent home," he continued.

"When I'd run into Bob on the Fox lot in those early days he'd gush over my performance & tell me how he was studying me to make sure his vocal performance felt right."

Radnor said receiving that validation from Saget changed his entire perspective.

"This man that I'd delighted in seeing on TV for years cheering me on, letting me know I had a right to be there and playing that character... I can't overstate how meaningful his words were," he wrote, adding, "(He also, true to form, told me jokes that I cannot tell here or in polite company)."

"We had a very special bond from Day 1, were never out of touch for long. We found a way to grab dinner once a year, even after HIMYM wrapped," Radnor added.

"We went to see each other in our Broadway plays. We talked a lot about how to live a meaningful life amidst all the chaos. I'm endlessly grateful that HIMYM brought Bob Saget into my life. I'll hear his voice in my head for the rest of my days."
