Book makes claim that Camilla asked if Meghan and Harry's baby would have 'ginger Afro'

Royal insiders have denied claims that Camilla Parker-Bowles told Prince Harry it would be "funny" if his unborn child with Meghan Markle was born with "a ginger Afro".

The alleged incendiary comment was made by Parker-Bowles in Tom Bower's new book - Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors - an unauthorized biography that explores the "rift" between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Royal Family.

Among the revelations in the book is the claim that the Duchess of Cornwall commented on what type and color of hair Harry and Meghan's unborn child might have in 2016 - when Harry started dating the actress.

Bower alleges that the comments were made during a conversation between the 37-year-old prince and his family, however, palace sources close to Camilla have dismissed the claims as "nonsense," with Clarence House refusing to comment.

Bower’s book claims that Harry sought advice from Prince Charles after speculation over his new relationship with the now 40-year-old Markle.

The discussions allegedly included the possibility of Markle continuing her acting career, offers of police protection, and a controversial comment on the appearance of any children the pair may have together.

"During those weeks, Harry met Charles and Camilla at Clarence House," Bower claims. "In Harry’s version, Harry was told that Meghan should continue with her acting career."

"Second, Scotland Yard could not automatically be expected to pay for his girlfriend’s 24-hour protection," Bower added.

The couple announced their engagement in November 2017, got married in 2018, and welcomed their first child Archie in May 2019, followed by Lillibet in June 2021.

In January 2020, Harry and Meghan issued a statement on Instagram saying that they would "step back" as working senior members of the royal family.

The following year in March 2021, in a separate interview, the Sussex couple revealed a series of allegations to Oprah Winfrey in front of an audience of 80 million.

The televised interview, which also accused the family of failing to help Markle when she felt suicidal during her first pregnancy, left the Windsors in crisis.

One of the allegations included that an unnamed member of Harry's family commented on how "dark his skin might be when he’s born" about Archie.

"In those months when I was pregnant [there were] concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born," Markle said, to which Harry added: "That conversation, I am never going to share. At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked."

The journalist also proclaimed in his book that Harry described the "aftermath of those conversations" as "really hard" and "awkward".

"Finally, in his view, any family speculation about a child’s appearance was (unfortunately) seen by his elders as light-hearted. A conversation with Meghan would change that assumption," Bower added.
