Paul Cattermole, best known for being a singer in the UK band S Club 7, has died at the age of 46, his bandmates confirmed.

The band announced the heartbreaking news on social media, sharing a photo of Cattermole as they paid tribute after his death.

They told fans: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel.

"We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

Cattermole's family added in a statement: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

"Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon.

"While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances. Paul’s family, friends and fellow members of S Club request privacy at this time."

A source added to The Sun: "Everyone is in pieces. Hannah and the rest of the gang broke down when told what happened.

"No one can believe it. There is a real sense of horror and disbelief."

News of Cattermole's death comes just months after S Club 7 had revealed plans to reunite for a tour of the UK, with tickets selling out quickly.

Cattermole found fame in the early 2000s after joining S Club 7 in 1998 alongside Rachel Stevens, Hannah Spearritt, Bradley McIntosh, Tina Barrett, Jo O’Meara, and Jon Lee.

S Club 7 also starred in TV shows together including Miami 7, based on their adventures moving to Miami to break America.

Cattermole was the first to leave the band in 2002 before the group finally split up a year later.

The band had been due to reunite eight years after last taking the stage together, having announced their reunion tour in February.

They said at the time: "We’re so excited to bring the S Club Party back to our fans across the country to celebrate 25 years of S Club 7. We can’t even believe it’s been so long!"
