Bridget Fonda has explained why she won't be returning to Hollywood after quitting acting decades ago.

The 59-year-old was a prominent actress throughout the '80s and the '90s before she gave up the spotlight for a quiet life with her husband and children.

Starring in major blockbusters such as Jackie Brown (1997), Single White Female (1992), and Point Of No Return (1993), Fonda was hailed as one of the most promising talents in the industry.

However in 2001, after starring in her final movie The Whole Shebang, she left Hollywood, only returning for a brief stint in the TV movie Snow Queen in 2002.

The only other time she was seen on the red carpet was when she attended the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's film Inglourious Basterds and since then, sightings of the star have been few and far between - until now.

On Monday, the former actress was spotted arriving at Los Angeles International Airport alongside her son Oliver, whom she shares with her film composer husband, Danny Elfman, where she was questioned about her previous career.

As per the Daily Mail, when asked if she wanted to make a move back into Hollywood, Fonda simply replied, "No."

After a photographer questioned her further about whether there was even a slight chance she might make a return, she had a similar response, later adding: "I don't think so, it's too nice being a civilian."

It seems as though the former actress is enjoying a nice, quiet life with her family - as she should!

After the rare sighting of the star, fans took to social media to voice their support for Fonda and the decision she chose to make.

"I really just wish media would leave Bridget Fonda alone. She’s allowed to have had her illustrious career and taken a step back from it and live her life now in anonymity, instead of updates about what she looks like now. Ffs. I loved SWF too but she’s moved on. Leave her be," wrote one user.

Another added: "Really getting sick and tired of pubs and websites making fun of Bridget Fonda. Enough! She quit the business! Leave her alone!!!"

A third described the entire obsession with women aging naturally as "sad" adding: "I saw that Bridget Fonda was trending and people are being cruel about her weight, not all of us have it easy 50 and over to be thin or stay thin."

While we miss seeing the incredible actress on the big screen, she deserves to live her life in any way she wants - and if a quiet and comfortable one away from the spotlight is what she has chosen, it's best to respect that.
