Bruce Willis's daughter Tallulah has shared an update on her dad's condition as the action star continues to battle dementia.
The Die Hard actor, 68, had retired from acting at the start of 2022, after his family announced that he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a brain condition which affects speech and comprehension.
After the beloved star underwent further testing to determine the cause of the condition, he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which the family shared at the start of February.
Ever since, Bruce's family has kept fans up to date with his progress through a series of social media posts in order to raise awareness of the condition.
Tallulah, 29, who is the youngest daughter of Bruce and his former wife Demi Moore, has now opened up on how her father is doing as she discussed why the family chose to be so candid about the actor's health.
Appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, Tallulah opened up on why the family chose to share the news publicly, explaining: "He has a really aggressive cognitive disease, a form of dementia that is very rare.
"I think it's twofold, I think on one hand it's who we are as a family, but also it's really important for us to spread awareness about FTD because we had no idea."
She added that it was also cathartic for the family to speak about it: "If we can take something that we're struggling with as a family and individually to help other people, to turn it around, to make something beautiful about it, that's really special for us."
Tallulah revealed that she had been going through her father's old photographs and trinkets, almost like an "archeologist", and found that music is a great way for them to bond despite his condition.
She added: "It's a huge part of how I spend time with him now, is playing music and just kind of sitting in that energy of love, and it's really special."
Tallulah also shared an update on how Bruce is doing currently, explaining: "He is the same, which I think in this regard I've learned is the best thing you can ask for."
She beautifully added: "I see love when I'm with him, and it's my dad, and he loves me."
As well as Tallulah, Bruce and Demi shared two older daughters - Rumer and Scout - and he has had two younger children, Evelyn and Mabel, with his current wife, Emma Heming Willis, 45.
The family had shared a joint statement confirming Bruce would no longer be acting, saying in 2022: "To Bruce’s amazing supporters, as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.
"As a result of this and with much consideration, Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him. This is a really challenging time for our family, and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion, and support."
His friend Glen Caron, director of Moonlighting, also shared an update, telling the New York Post that the star's "language skills" had been affected, as well as his "joie de vivre".
He said at the time: "He’s not totally verbal; he used to be a voracious reader - he didn’t want anyone to know that - and he’s not reading now. All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he’s still Bruce."
