This week, Disneyland Paris gave Minnie Mouse a major makeover.
In honor of the parks' 30th anniversary and Women's History Month, the iconic mouse swapped her signature polka dot dress for something truly radical - a pantsuit.
The fashion-forward fit was designed by none other than Stella McCartney, and featured a daring dark blue design that paid homage to Minnie's traditional polka dots.
However, not everyone is a fan of the new look. One particularly outspoken critic - right-wing pundit Candace Owens - has gone so far as to say that Minnie's pantsuit might actually pose a danger to our way of life.
Speaking on Fox News, Owens ranted about the pantsuit, saying that its creators are "trying to destroy fabrics of our society."
"This is why people don't take these people seriously. They’re taking all of these things that nobody was offended by, acting like they have to get rid of them and destroy them, because they’re bored. They’re absolutely bored," she said.
"They’re trying to destroy fabrics of our society, pretending that there’s issues, so everybody looks over here: ‘Look at Minnie Mouse! Don’t look at inflation, Jesse, look at Minnie Mouse. The world is going forward because you’ve got her in a pantsuit,'" the news anchor raged.
While we can't say for certain what effect the pantsuit will have on the fabric of our society, we do know that it's made from fabrics that are responsibly sourced.
British designer Stella McCartney released a statement to the official Disney fan club about Minnie's one-off fit change.
"I wanted Minnie to wear her very first pantsuit at Disneyland Paris, so I have designed one of my iconic costumes—a blue tuxedo—using responsibly sourced fabrics," she said.
"This new take on her signature polka dots makes Minnie Mouse a symbol of progress for a new generation. She will wear it in honor of Women’s History Month in March 2022," the designer added.
Meanwhile, Owens may be up in arms about the mouse's new look but many people have taken to Twitter to point out that this is not her first time ditching a skirt.
"Oh look, there's Minnie Mouse in pants. Somehow, not destroying the fabric of society. Just being an adorable cartoon mouse, as one does," one user posted alongside pictures on Minnie in pants.
"This literally ain't the first time. Plus, she looks really good in a pantsuit," added another.
