The loveable children's television character Bluey made a stunning appearance at the Thanksgiving day parade in New York yesterday, but CBS announcers have found themselves under fire for misgendering the character.

Per the Guardian, the cartoon originated in Australia but teamed up with American streaming services such as Disney+ to bring the Australian Blue Heeler dog to worldwide audiences.

The show follows the lead character, Bluey, and her family, and has since become one of the most in-demand shows on Disney Junior, the Disney Channel, and Disney+, according to Disney Dining.

Disney+ offers this synopsis of the cartoon: "Australian blue heeler puppy Bluey has a boundless imagination and loves to turn daily life into playful adventures. She and little sister Bingo throw themselves into exploring their world, using gameplay to conquer their fears and try out adult roles."

Fans were naturally excited that their favorite character would be taking part in the famous New York parade, but viewers watching CBS were left unimpressed after the two announcers dubbed the female Bluey as male.

Viewers were confused as to why Bluey was being referred to as "he" and took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at the misgendering.

One fan wrote: "they kept calling bluey 'he' in the thanksgiving parade," and another added: "Minor controversy with the Thanksgiving day parade when the CBS crew kept on misgendering Bluey."

A third Bluey fan said: "The fact the CBS crew on the Thanksgiving parade don’t know Bluey is a girl. Don’t disrespect the goat [greatest of all time] like that."

A fourth person offered insight into how often this misgendering happens: "Oh we had the volume low because my mom was complaining about noise, but yeah lol it’s surprisingly common that people think she’s a boy."

For clarification, the official Bluey Twitter account confirmed that the Australian dog is indeed female by saying "There she is," as the giant float made its appearance.

Fans were ecstatic at the appearance of Bluey in the parade, with one saying via Twitter: "There’s that famous heeler we all know, love, and adore! We’re all SO happy you could finally make it to such a wonderful tradition, Bluey!"

We think Bluey looked amazing at the parade!
