Today marks the one year anniversary since the first coronavirus lockdown was announced in the UK, and what a wild, wild ride it's been. While it was initially bizarre to live in what felt like a dystopia, for the most part, we managed to adjust to the "new normal". I mean, who would have known that we'd have to cope with a year's worth of hair growth, with nary a haircut in sight?!
To mark the passage of time - we take a look back at some of the stranger phases of lockdown. From the great toilet roll shortage of March 2020 to the hysteria around Tiger King, here's what our life has looked like in pictures...
1. The toilet roll shortage
While we were able to stock up on the essentials (bananas and beer, of course) toilet roll was almost impossible to find a year ago.
2. Tiger King
Joe Exotic became such a character that then-President, Donald Trump, even considered pardoning him!

3. And so does working from home...
We all had to make the most of our living situations, and some of our setups got bizarre.
4. Zoom calls
Zoom went from being an unknown software to the primary way of communicating with our friends and colleagues. But not all conversation ended well – just ask Jackie Weaver, who, it turns out, does authority...

5. The funniest Zoom call backgrounds and filters
From Taylor Swift to some classic Dell screensavers, people found ways to get creative on Zoom. But the funny moments weren't always intentional – as Texas lawyer Rod Ponton proved when he went viral after accidentally turning on a cat filter during a Zoom court session. Oops!

6. And the funniest Zoom call gaffes...
While we've all had a flatmate or family member make a surprise appearance during an important work call, at least we weren't Dr Clare Wenham.
7. Homeschooling
As kids were pulled out of school to halt the spread of Covid-19, parents were given another job: homeschooling.
8. Celebrities sing "Imagine"
This earnest rendition of "Imagine" by some wealthy celebrities was seriously cringe-inducing.
9. Lockdown haircuts
With hairdressers forced to close their doors, the nation resorted to DIY hair cuts – and for many, that decision did not end well.
I think we can all agree... It's been quite a year!
