Trips to Disneyland are already memorable enough, but what if one of Hollywood's biggest stars photobombed your video without you knowing?
The Odyssey and Jason Bourne star Matt Damon went viral overnight for unknowingly being in the background of a family's wholesome video.
Guest Loryn Powell was filming the moment when her young daughter met Goofy during their trip to the theme park, when she noticed someone in the background.
Damon could be seen standing in the background in a baseball cap, pants, and a shirt, a low-key outfit as he remained low-profile while appreciating the cute family moment.
The 55-year-old could be seen smiling, appreciating the interaction as a father of four himself.
Little did he know that the video would be reposted and shared to millions across social media in the hours afterward.
The young girl can be seen reaching her arm out to the iconic Disney character, who is donning a chef costume.
They can be seen sharing a hug, as her dad is seen crouching down and speaking to her.
The text on screen read: “POV you’re watching your husband and daughter meet Goofy for the first time but don’t realize Matt Damon is also watching your husband and daughter meet Goofy for the first time.”
Powell further joked about the interaction in the caption: “When your daughter is more starstruck by Goofy than Matt Damon,” with a laughing emoji.
Speaking to The California Post about the video, Powell said: “As you can tell we love dressing up for a good theme so taking our 2.5 year old daughter to Disneyland for her first time was magical,
“Even if Matt Damon hadn’t been there.”
It's believed that Damon was at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, around the same time, to celebrate his daughter Gia's 18th birthday.
The family took some wholesome snaps at the theme park while wearing black shirts that read, “Birthday Crew,” on August 20.
It is unknown if the video was taken on the same day as the Damon family's visit.
Back in 2012, the Academy-winning star explained to The Guardian that the family had a "two-week rule," meaning they "can't be apart as a family for longer" than that period.
However, he broke this rule while shooting Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
He also recently spoke about it being a 'non-negotiable,' admitting that their biggest challenge is putting their phones away.
But Damon has recently revealed that filming Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey forced his hand.
The 55-year-old admitted his wife and children agreed to make a rare exception while he filmed the epic action fantasy film, despite the project keeping him away from home for far longer than they normally allow.
"It just took more, and it took more out of our family, and they had to, you know, we've always had a two-week rule. This was the first time that we ever had to violate it," Damon said during an interview on TODAY on July 14.
"There was like stretches of like three and a half weeks, and we were just away from each other," he said, describing the production as a 'big sacrifice' for his family.
"It was hard on us, and I'm so proud of the movie, but I'm so proud of them for really encouraging me," he continued.
"I feel like my whole professional life built up to this experience, and they really were really on board with me doing it, and I love them for that."
