As reported by Reuters, police have been investigating the star - whose real name is Rakim Mayers - for his possible involvement in a November 6 shooting in Hollywood.

Per NBC News, the victim reportedly told police that Mayers and two other people approached him with a handgun on the street.

They claimed that Mayers shot at him three to four times, and according to police reports, one of the bullets grazed his left hand.

Los Angles Police Department (LAPD) issued a statement on Twitter about the November incident, sayinf: "Early this morning, LAPD officers arrested Mayers for assault with a deadly weapon (firearm) at the Los Angeles International Airport. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for filing consideration."

LAPD also reported that the victim "sustained minor injuries" and that Rocky and co "fled the area on foot".

Rakim Mayers' lawyer, Alan Jackson, confirmed that his client had been arrested but didn't make any further comments.

According to the L.A. County Sheriff's Department booking report, his bail was set at $550,000. He was released shortly after his arrest. However, he is expected to make his first appearance in court on August 17.

This is not the first arrest for A$AP Rocky. The rapper was previously arrested in Sweden after a brawl took place in Stockholm in August 2019.

The star was convicted of assault after he and his entourage beat and kicked a 19-year-old man following an argument.

The case drew worldwide attention when then-US President Donald Trump tweeted and offered to "personally vouch for his bail".

He was given a two-year suspension, ordered to pay $1,000 in damages, and served a month in jail before the sentence. He was not ordered to serve additional time.
