Angel Carter, twin sister of the late Aaron Carter, has opened up about the heartbreaking losses her family has endured, shedding light on the factors that may have contributed to the tragic passing of three of her siblings.

In a candid conversation with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Angel addressed the deaths of Leslie, Aaron, and Bobbi Jean, all of which were linked to substance abuse issues.

Leslie passed away in 2012 at the age of 25 from an overdose, Aaron tragically drowned at 34 in 2022, attributed to the effects of Xanax and inhaling difluoroethane, and Bobbi Jean died at 41 in 2023 from intoxication due to the combined effects of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Acknowledging both family dysfunction and fame as potential factors in their deaths, Angel reflected on the chaotic environment she grew up in, marked by parental instability.

Despite moments of love within the family, Angel described a lack of boundaries and stability, noting the absence of a reliable support system during times of need.

"My parents were just fighting all the time," she told King. Just dysfunction in the home. No boundaries. No stability. No one to talk to. It just felt like, if I had an issue going on I really couldn't have my parents to lean on to."

When asked about the role of fame in exacerbating their family issues, Angel agreed, citing the transformative impact of sudden wealth and fame on her family dynamics.

With Nick Carter's rise to superstardom as a member of the Backstreet Boys and Aaron's success with hits like 'I Want Candy', Angel admits she observed a shift in their family dynamic as money became a driving force.

"'We were a family that had no money," Angel admitted. "We were from upstate New York. My parents were poor. And they had never seen anything like this before. So, once the money started coming in, it just changed the dynamic because money became the moving force.'

Reflecting on Aaron's struggles with addiction, Angel revealed her enduring hope for his recovery over the years, though she ultimately lost all hope during his final days. She expressed her determination to break the cycle of dysfunction in her own family, prioritizing a stable and nurturing environment for her child.

In a separate interview with PEOPLE magazine in August, Angel delved deeper into her family's painful past - adding: "Fame and money took over our family."

She also explained that the death of her sister Leslie in 2012 had a "domino effect" on her twin brother Aaron. "I always felt like that was the beginning of the end," she said.

Despite the profound losses her family has faced, Angel remains determined to navigate her own path and provide a sense of innocence and stability for her child, aiming to break free from the cycle of pain that has plagued her family for years.
