Adele has spoken candidly about her disappointment over the conversations women were having about her body post-weight loss.

On Thursday, October 7, the 'Someone Like You' chart-topper graced the covers of both American Vogue and British Vogue.

In her accompanying cover story, the 33-year-old megastar shared: "My body’s been objectified my entire career. It’s not just now. I understand why it’s a shock. I understand why some women especially were hurt."

Adele continued: "Visually, I represented a lot of women. But I'm still the same person. And the worst part of the whole thing was that the most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very f*****g disappointed with that."

She added: "That hurt my feelings."

By early 2020, Adele had reportedly lost 100lbs after hiring a personal trainer and completely transforming her diet.

However, despite the fact that her new approach to her diet and exercise was for her and only her - there were a number of people giving their two cents about her transformation online.

And according to Adele, many of these critics were women.

In May 2020, she shared a photo of her in a black dress featuring her very slender frame - a photo taken at her 32nd birthday celebration.

But the response to the photo wasn't all positive.

For example, one person took to Twitter to share: "Am I the only one that misses old Adele?! She really didn’t have to lose all that weight. So [sic] already looked so gorgeous and confident Noooo Adele."

Back in December 2019, weeks after she showed off her initial weight loss at a party hosted by Drake, a Twitter user said: "Celebrating Adele’s weight loss is a garbage thing to do for a million reasons.

"Here are two: 1. It tells your fat friends you think their bodies are a problem to be solved. 2. The weight loss could be the result of physical or mental health struggles. Weird to cheer about!"

Adele revealed in her interview with Vogue that her staggering weight loss was the result of exercising three times a day. But rather than being motivated to shed weight, she actually only set out to manage her anxiety.

Adele told British Vogue: "It was because of my anxiety. Working out, I would just feel better. It was never about losing weight, it was always about becoming strong and giving myself as much time every day without my phone.

"I got quite addicted to it. I work out two or three times a day. So I do my weights in the morning, then I normally hike or I box in the afternoon, and then I go and do my cardio at night. I was basically unemployed when I was doing it. And I do it with trainers."
