Sophia Leone's cause of death has been revealed months after the adult star was found dead in her home.

On March 1, the professional adult actress was found "unresponsive" in her New Mexico home "by her family," according to a GoFundMe page set up by Sophia's stepfather, Mike Romero.

In the description, Romero said that the "sudden loss... has left her family devastated and in shock," but as the family grieves the loss of their daughter, they're also "seeking justice."

"On behalf of her mother & family, it is with a heavy heart that I have to share the news of our beloved Sophia’s passing," Romero wrote on the page. "...On top of the difficult process of grieving and seeking justice for Sophia[,] the family is also facing the financial burden that they were not prepared for."

"I am reaching out to all of Sophia's supporters and the community during this incredibly difficult time," the statement continued. "Sophia without question deserves the absolute best memorial and you can help us. Any donation no matter the amount will go straight towards the costs associated with the investigation, funeral [expenses], and any other costs that may arise as the family works through this heartbreak."

Initially, there were rumors about the star's death relating to a possible home invasion due to a post on X published by Adult talent agency 101 Modeling.

However, shortly after, the Albuquerque Police Department dispelled those claims via a statement to PEOPLE two weeks later.

"We are investigating the death as a suspicious death at this point, and not a homicide because the preliminary autopsy did not reveal any trauma and did not determine the cause of death," the department revealed to the outlet.

At the time, a source close to the investigation branded it as a "unique situation" due to the fact that officers were not sure whether a crime had been committed or not.

But now, five months later, police have reportedly told TMZ that the performer's death was related to an accidental but fatal overdose, though it is unclear what substance caused it.

Leone's mother also revealed that her daughter often drank heavily and had suicidal thoughts but despite this, investigators were said to have found no signs of trauma on her body.

The Albuquerque Police Department has yet to release an official report on the update.

The Miami-born adult star broke into the industry in 2014 and has starred in over 80 films, her IMDb page states.

She's worked with popular adult entertainment companies such as Brazzers, Reality Kings, and Evil Angel ad has garnered a loyal fanbase over the years.

Our thoughts are with Leone's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
