Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have been slammed for announcing a new reality show in the midst of the actor's lawsuit regarding the fatal shooting on the set of Rust.

Alec and Hilaria have announced a new reality show that will offer an inside look at their family life.

Check out their announcement:

The couple revealed the news on their Instagram page, detailing that the series will follow their daily lives as they raise their seven children, the eldest of whom is ten years old.

"In this TLC follow-doc series, Alec and Hilaria invite viewers into the home they share with their seven growing kids," reads the series announcement.

"For the first time, they're opening up their family lives and bringing everyone in to join in the non-stop love, laughter and drama."

Alec added: "We're inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good and bad, the wild and the crazy."

However, the announcement has been met with heavy criticism due to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Rust shooting incident.

Alec has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

The charge stems from the fatal shooting that occurred on the set of the movie Rust in October 2021.

A grand jury in New Mexico delivered the indictment against the 65-year-old actor after reviewing evidence presented by special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis.

The decision was announced on Friday, January 19. Alec now faces up to 18 months in prison if convicted, per CBS News.

Regarding the announcement of a reality series given the circumstances, people had a lot to say.

One social media user commented: "Um, Alec? Is now really the best time for this?" Another simply stated: "I wish they wouldn't do this!" A third person remarked: "Anything to make people forget about the court case, I see."

In light of the criticism, comments on the Instagram post have been limited.

Rust armourer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was recently convicted of involuntary manslaughter for failing to ensure the weapon was safe before handing it to Baldwin.

Gutierrez-Reed, 27, received an 18-month jail sentence.

"You were the armourer, the one that stood between a safe weapon and a weapon that could kill someone," said Santa Fe judge Mary Sommer during the sentencing.

"You alone turned a safe weapon into a lethal weapon. But for you, Ms. Hutchins would be alive, a husband would have his partner, and a little boy would have his mother."

Following the resumption of filming, Hutchins' husband served as an executive producer on the project as part of a settlement with Alec.

Alec confirmed on Instagram in May that production had wrapped, sharing a selfie and noting, "God, it felt good to shave off that beard…."

NBC News has released previously unseen footage from the Rust set, showing Alec performing scenes and firing a prop gun in what appears to be a gunfight.

In the video, Alec is heard expressing safety concerns, asking a crew member: "If I am going to shoot right, do you want to go to the other side of the camera? I don’t want to shoot toward you."
