Alec Musser's cause of death has been revealed after the All My Children star died at the age of 50.
The actor, who made a significant impact during his two-year stint on the show, left a lasting impression on fans and colleagues alike.
Musser joined the cast of All My Children in 2005, portraying the character Del Henry. During his time on the daytime television series, he appeared in a total of 43 episodes. While his acting career encompassed only six total credits, he also made appearances in projects like Grown Ups, Road to the Altar, and Rita Rocks.
In recent years, Musser shifted the primary focus of his career to become a fitness model. He graced the covers of prominent men's magazines such as Men's Health and Men's Workout. His remarkable physique and modeling work garnered recognition, even leading to actor Channing Tatum recreating one of Alec's iconic magazine covers as part of the promotion for his movie Dog.
Musser graciously acknowledged Tatum's tribute, expressing his appreciation: "Thank you, [Channing Tatum]. 'Dog' movie. Imitation truly is the sincerest form of flattery. Calle nailed this pose in about 4 frames on a Max Fitness cover shoot. During a lighting change phenomenon, fitness photographer Corey Sorenson said, 'grab your dog for a few,' and the illustrious career of [Calle the Superstar] was born."
Now it has been revealed that the actor died by suicide, with The San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office telling TMZ that he was found dead last Saturday by his fiancée at their Del Mar, CA home.
He tragically died by self-inflicted gunshot wound.
As a dedicated bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast, Musser frequently shared his fitness journey and experiences on social media. His posts showcased an active lifestyle, including activities like snowboarding and surfing.
Musser's fiancée, Pagie Press, shared the heartbreaking news with TMZ, while his uncle confirmed the actor's passing. However, details surrounding the circumstances leading up to his death have not been disclosed.
Following the news of Musser's passing, an outpouring of tributes and condolences from fans and friends flooded social media platforms. One of his friends, Craig Romero, expressed shock and fondly remembered him: "I'm in shock, brother. You were a dear friend and will always be remembered. Enjoy those perfect heavenly waves and powder runs."
Fans also joined in paying their respects, with some noting the recent increase in the number of soap opera stars' deaths.
On the same day as Musser's passing, Days of Our Lives star Bill Hayes also passed away, with the cause of death not yet revealed.
Hayes, born William Foster Hayes III, played the role of Doug Williams on Days of Our Lives since 1970, making him one of the show's longest-running characters.
His portrayal of Doug Williams was a cornerstone of the Williams-Horton family for over five decades.
A representative for the series shared the news, stating, "It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved Bill Hayes. One of the longest-running characters on Days of our Lives, Bill originated the role of ‘Doug Williams’ in 1970 and portrayed him continuously throughout his life."
Days of Our Lives' executive producer, Ken Corday, remembered Hayes as a central figure in the show's history.
Corday said, "I have known Bill for most of my life and he embodied the heart and soul of Days of our Lives. Although we are grieving and will miss him, Bill’s indelible legacy will live on in our hearts and the stories we tell, both on and off the screen."
