Former baseball player Alex Rodriguez has broken his silence on rumours he split from Jennifer Lopez.

The 45-year-old former shortstop was questioned about the state of his relationship by a TMZ reporter while leaving his gym in Miami on Saturday, and Rodriguez claimed that he and Lopez were still very much together.

When questioned further, Rodriguez hinted the romance was strained but denied they had broken up.

He said: "We are working through some things."

Rodriguez and Lopez have since released a joint statement addressing the break-up rumours.

The couple told  TMZ: "All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things." The pair went on to add that there was no third party involved in their dispute.

This follows reports by TMZ made on Friday, March 12, that the couple had had a fight and called off their wedding.

Lopez and Roodriguez have been engaged since 2019, but have been dogged by rumors of infidelity after Rodriguez was accused of having an affair with Southern Charm actress Madison LeCroy.

However, speaking with Page Six, LeCroy denied the allegations, stating that she and Rodriguez have "spoken on the phone" but that their communication with each other was entirely "innocent".

She insisted that they have "never met up" and "never been physical … never had any kind of anything. Just an acquaintance."

Opening up about her relationship in a February interview in Allure magazine, Lopez revealed that she and Rodriguez had been to couple's therapy together during lockdown.

She told the publication: "It has been actually really good. We got to work on ourselves. We did therapy. I think it was really helpful for us in our relationship."

Lopez also spoke about having to push back their wedding, apparently due to complications caused by the COVID pandemic, stating: "It was a big deal.

"We had been planning for months and months and months, and it was overseas. Maybe that wasn’t the right time. You start thinking of all of these things — how everything has its kind of perfect, divine moment."
