Amanda Seyfried reveals A-list actor peed on her 'without her knowing', then 'ran away'
Amanda Seyfried is opening up about a bizarre on-set moment involving her Dear John co-star Channing Tatum.
During a recent interview with Deadline published Jan. 15, the actress reflected on her time filming the 2010 romantic drama and shared a behind-the-scenes prank that caught her completely off guard. According to Seyfried, Tatum once urinated on her leg during the production of the Nicholas Sparks adaptation.
Amanda Seyfried details the on-set incident
The moment happened while the cast and crew were filming a beach scene. Seyfried explained that she did not immediately realize what was happening.
“He peed on my leg once without me knowing,” Seyfried said. “And I didn’t realize at first, and then I was like, ‘Oh that’s why he’s standing so close to me. What the..?’”
What began as a prank between co-stars quickly escalated when some of the urine splashed into a nearby coffee cup that belonged to a crew member.
“There was a coffee cup very close by, and a little bit got in the coffee cup and he ran away,” Seyfried told the outlet. “As I was screaming, one of the makeup artists picked it up and was about to drink it and I saved her.”
A playful dynamic during Dear John production
Seyfried emphasized that the incident was part of an ongoing joke-filled atmosphere between her and the “Magic Mike” star while making the film.
“He and I effed with each other the entire movie in like a super, super fun way,” she said. “He’s very, very funny and we had a great time.”
Her recent remarks line up with comments she made years earlier about working alongside Tatum. In 2015, the Mean Girls alum told E! News that he was her “favorite co-star thus far.”
“Channing and I have a very similar set behavior,” Seyfried said at the time. “We don’t take anything too seriously, but we’re shooting a movie that’s very heavy, all about love and romance. It’s a tear-jerker, so we just like to play around.”
Inside the film that brought them together
Dear John is an American romantic war drama based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. The story centers on John Tyree, played by Tatum, a Special Forces soldier who falls in love with Savannah Curtis, portrayed by Seyfried, during a summer romance. Their relationship faces significant challenges due to long distance and Tyree’s military service, particularly after the events of 9/11 lead him to re-enlist.
Despite the emotional weight of the film’s storyline, Seyfried’s recollection offers a glimpse into the lighter moments that unfolded behind the scenes during its production.
