Amber Heard's agent says she was told her client's role in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom role was cut back because of a supposed lack of chemistry between her and Jason Momoa.

Jessica Kovacevic, the talent agent for the 36-year-old Pineapple Express star, made it clear when she testified in the trial that she believed this not to be true.

Instead, the WME agent believes Heard's role was reduced in the upcoming film due to the less-than-favorable press Heard was receiving when her accusations against Johnny Depp became public knowledge.

Depp, 58, and Heard, 36, are suing each other for $50 million and $100 million respectively over a 2018 op-ed the actress wrote for The Washington Post about her experience with domestic abuse.

Attorneys for Depp argue that the piece implies he was physically abusive towards his former wife - despite the fact that he was not named in it.

Heard was cast in 2017's Justice League and played Mera in the original Aquaman movie the year after. Kovacevic told jurors as part of a virtual testimony that Heard was also slated to receive $2 million in the next instalment. The Rum Diary star has wrapped filming on the film, and it is set to be released in theaters in March 2023.

Per People, her agent explained to the court that she was told Warner Bros.' explanation for cutting back on Heard's role in Aquaman 2 was due to the "the lack of chemistry between her and Jason."

The agent said WME found out Heard's role as Mera was reduced when Heard got a hold of the script. When reflecting on Heard's success after the first Aquaman film, Kovacevic said that she felt the her career did not take off in the way that Momoa's did.

Kovacevic said: "In my experience ... Your career takes a turn after something like that. She was very well received in the movie at the time, everyone was happy with her at the time, there were no issues. Then to have a complete downturn after that, and then have that coincide with constant tweets and negativity put out about her, I don't have a physical piece of paper of evidence, but it's the only logical conclusion I draw."
