Amy Schumer has opened up about the surgery she underwent to remove her appendix and uterus in order to treat her endometriosis.
The comic took to social media over the weekend to share a video filmed by her husband, Chris Fischer, in which she could be seen on a hospital bed as she shared some of the details about the procedure.
She said: "So, it’s the morning after my surgery for endometriosis and my uterus is out. The doctor found 30 spots of endometriosis that he removed. He removed my appendix because the endometriosis had attacked it."
The 40-year-old Trainwreck star added: "There was a lot, a lot of blood in my uterus and I’m, you know, sore and I have some, like, gas pains."
Schumer also included a selfie of her in her hospital gown, captioning the post: "If you have really painful periods you may have #endometriosis."
She posted the same photo on her Instagram Story, where she took the time to thank her doctors.
"Peace out endometriosis! Thanks Dr. Seckin and Dr. Brill," she wrote as part of the image text.
Following the candid post, a number of Schumer's famous pals took to the comments to share their support.
Padma Lakshmi, who founded the Endometriosis Foundation of America, wrote: "Thank you so much for sharing your endo story. Over 200 million women worldwide suffer with this. Hope you feel better soon! @endofound."
Debra Messing commented: "Oh my goodness, 30?! So happy they are gone and you won’t have that pain anymore. Heal well Am!"
Jennette McCurdy wrote: "I was just told this by my gynecologist! I’m bedridden for 24 hours once a month. thank you for talking about this. wishing you a speedy recovery."
This certainly isn't the only time the I Feel Pretty star has opened up about her experience with her reproductive issues. Last summer, Schumer suggested that she may quit IVF after welcoming her son Gene, who is now two years old.
She told Today's Willie Geist: "I don’t think I could ever do IVF again. So I decided that I can’t be pregnant ever again. We talked about a surrogate, but I think we’re going to hold off for right now."
