Andrew Garfield has spoken out about how he felt having to repeatedly lie about his secret role in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
And before we continue, this article will contain SPOILERS about the movie, so if you're one of the 96 people left in the world who are yet to see it, you may want to click away now.
The appearance of Garfield and fellow former Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire in Tom Holland's latest wall-crawling installment may have been the worst kept secret in Hollywood history - but that didn't stop fans from losing their minds when they both finally stepped through their respective portals and into the MCU.
It was a moment of fan service and decades-long storytelling that will truly go down in movie history. And despite many fans fearing that Garfield and Maguire would simply pop in for a cameo, the pair actually played a pivotal role in the second half of the movie.
However, in order to keep the big reveal a secret, you may remember that Garfield actually spent months denying any involvement in the movie at all.
Back in November, Garfield was taking part in a promotional tour for his role in Tick, Tick... Boom! During anĀ appearance on the Today show, Garfield continued to deny the rumors, saying: "Listen, I'm not in the film. I love Spider-Man, I always have. I was so happy to have played the part, and I'm so excited to see what they do with the third one, just like you guys are, to be honest. No, that's not a diplomatic answer. I really, really mean it."
Now, in an interview with The Wrap, 38-year-old Garfield has spoken out about lying to his fans for months about his role in No Way Home.
He told the publication: "It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable. It was like this massive game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and with people guessing, and it was very fun."

For those of us that didn't grow up playing Werewolf with friends - it is a game where people are selected to be werewolves, but can say whatever they want in order to hide their identity and eliminate other players from the game.
"Like anyone who's played the game Werewolf knows, if you are the werewolf your heart kind of sinks because you know you have a stressful couple of hours ahead of you," Garfield added. "You're gonna have to lie to your friends' faces and try to convince them that you are not the bad guy in the game. But it was thrilling, actually."
Garfield added that the end result was being able to give people a "thrill" in the movie theater, although he did also say that he'll miss playing Werewolf with every Spider-Man fan in the world.
Following the release of No Way Home, Garfield has also revealed the one scene that "sold" him on returning as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
