Angelina Jolie has revealed that she didn't shower for three days as she prepared for her striking bee-themed photo shoot.
Teaming up with National Geographic on World Bee Day, the 45-year-old actress was covered in the flying insects in order to raise awareness of the species' dwindling numbers.
As it turns out, an important part of preparing for a photoshoot in which one is surrounded by bees is... not showering!
And the Maleficent star, dedicated as she is, did just that.
According to Angelina, she was advised not to shower for three whole days as the scents in shampoos and shower gels could potentially confuse the creatures, who might end up mistaking you for a flower!
In the interview which accompanied the shoot, she said: "It was so funny to be in hair and makeup and wiping yourself with pheromone.
She then revealed: "We couldn't shower for three days before. Because they told me, 'If you have all these different scents, shampoos and perfumes and things, the bee doesn't know what you are.' [They] don't want [bees] to confuse you for a flower, I suppose."
Elsewhere in the interview, Angelina also revealed that close contact with bees also means you have to "put a few things up your nose and in your ears so you don't give them as many holes to climb in."
However, one bee did manage to fly up the humanitarian's dress, which made her feel a little uneasy.
She continued: "I did have one that got under my dress the entire time. It was like one of those old comedies. I kept feeling it on my knee, on my leg, and then I thought, 'Oh, this is the worst place to get stung. It's getting really close.'
"It stayed there the entire time we were doing the shoot. And then when I got all the other bees off, I lifted the skirt and she went away."
Ultimately, though, Angelina said it still "felt lovely to be connected to these beautiful creatures."
"There's certainly a hum. You have to be really still and in your body, in the moment, which is not easy for me," she said.
