Cancel the Met Gala and don't even bother with holding any more movie premieres this year, because Anya Taylor-Joy has just served the greatest fashion moment of 2024.

Walking the red carpet at the Australian premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the 28-year-old actress left spectators and social media users in awe as she donned a one-of-a-kind couture gown.

The show-stopping look is a vintage piece from Paco Rabanne's 1996 spring/summer haute couture collection, and features a transparent dress adorned with dozens of golden arrows protruding from it. The look was completed with a headpiece that screams "Look at me, I'm your new queen".

The gown's timeless elegance and avant-garde design has wowed social media users - despite first being seen on the catwalk 28 years ago.

"Anya Taylor-Joy’s dress is *so perfect* for the FURIOSA premiere. An absolutely breathtaking work of art," one X user wrote, before pointing out: "But, oh my gosh, she can’t sit down in it."

A second added: "We seriously need to acknowledge Anya Taylor-Joy as a contemporary fashion icon. I mean, this looks ATE SO BAD!"

A third simply stated: "ANYA TAYLOR-JOY EVERYBODY!!!! WOW!"

Reflecting on her experience filming Furiosa, Anya recently shared insights into the challenges and rewards of the project in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"I wanted something that was going to challenge my body and soul, and it was definitely that. I think I was surprised. What I thought would be difficult was really easy, and what I thought would be easy was actually very difficult," she said.

Despite the outpouring of praise for her most recent look, Taylor-Joy was met with criticism back in February when she was accused by her followers for "normalizing starvation".

The furor occurred after the Queen's Gambit star shared a black and white photo of her tightly cinched waist in a corset.

Whether the star was proud of her figure or simply showing the extreme lengths she goes through just to look perfect for a red carpet event, her fans just couldn't get onboard with the snap.

"This is precisely why I keep on deleting Instagram from time time," one person wrote in response to the image, with another Instagram user commenting: "Rough. Expected better from you [to be honest]. Thinness isn't chic."

Regardless of the backlash, the image has remained on Taylor-Joy's IG grid.

At least her most recent look is something many social media users have been praising.
