Ariana Grande has had to contend with a lot over the last year or so.

On May 22nd 2017, the city of Manchester was subjected to a horrific terror attack when a home-made bomb was detonated as crowds left Grande's concert at Manchester Arena. The singer has earned admirers all over the world for the manner in which she dealt with the terrible incident, as she returned to the city mere weeks later to organise One Love Manchester, a benefit concert attended by 55,000 people.

This year, the 25-year-old has been confronted with the tragic and untimely death of her former partner, the rapper Mac Miller, as well as the breakdown of her relationship with the comedian Pete Davidson, to whom she was briefly engaged.

Despite all of this, the singer has released a superb album, sweetner, performed live dates and most recently of all treated fans to new single thank u next.

The song has become a veritable sensation online, with Twitter users meme-ifying the line "one taught me love, one taught me patience, one taught me pain" to hilarious effect.

Over the last couple of weeks, Grande has been teasing fans with behind-the-scenes snaps that appear to be from the filming of the music video for thank u, next, and it's safe to say that her adoring public are extremely excited.

One might have thought that said excitement had reached its peak over the weekend, when Grande posted pictures of herself done up as Regina George from Mean Girls:

But now, things have gone up a whole other level in the hysteria charts, after the singer shared a Mean Girls inspired teaser trailer for the video, and I have to say, it's absolutely brilliant:

Featuring characters from the much-loved cult classic movie, the trailer sees Grande take the Regina George mould once again, with characters sharing rumours about the singer to hilarious effect.

Predictably fans are beside themselves at the trailer, with comments ranging from "I’m so excited!" to "Woah this is littt". One particularly enthused fan wrote simply "i’m so excited i wanna throw up". Same.

Ariana, looks like it's gonna be a smash.
