The whirlwind romance between Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson hasn't exactly gone down well with her fans. For whatever reason, many of Ariana's rabid fans haven't taken to the comedian in quite the way they took to her former bae, Mac Miller.
Maybe it was because Mac was there to pull Ariana through the horrific terror attack that took place during her Manchester concert, or the fact that the two collaborated on two very good tracks. But, whatever the case, the former couple decided to call it a day and Ariana moved on fast. For Mac, however, things went downhill.
The rapper, who has been vocal about his struggles with addiction and substance use, was arrested for DUI in the aftermath of the break-up and openly discusses his emotions in his latest album, 'Swimming'. But, while it may be easy to think there was bad blood between the two, it turns out that Mac wishes nothing but happiness for Ariana.
“It’s all positive energy,” he said. “I am happy for her and [the fact that she’s] moving forward with her life, just as I’m sure she is with me.”
During an interview with Beats 1 Radio on Apple Music, the rapper spoke candidly about the breakup for the very first time and, while the majority of celebrity break-ups are untidy affairs, Mac kept things fairly simple. “I was in love with somebody. We were together for two years. We worked through good times, bad times, stress and everything else. And then it came to an end and we both moved on. And it’s that simple."
The 'Donald Trump' hitmaker also touched upon Ariana's lightning fast engagement, saying, "I haven’t been on the internet. People have [asked] … 'Are you OK? Is everything OK?' … It just all seemed kind of unimportant, the need to show people I was OK. Like, what is that? Where does that come from? Why do we have this need to use social media and the internet?"
Mac may wish his ex well, but Ariana's fans have struggled to get over the breakup of their favourite couple. In comments captured by the Instagram account 'The Shade Room,' Ariana can be seen getting into a war of words with a fan who accused her of cheating on Mac.
Ariana has a song on her new album called 'Pete Davidson' and the fan in question said it would be the "song I skip all the time."
Obviously triggered by the comment, Ariana responded, saying: "boo f***ing hoo Alexa play Pete Davidson." However, the fan then responded, saying, "Ariana cheated on maccccc," leading to the singer saying, "I didnt but go off. Can u like... go stan someone else? ur boring."
It's not known if there was any infidelity on behalf of either Ariana or Mac, but given the way they have both spoken about one another, it seems pretty hard to believe.
When they broke up earlier this spring, Ariana confirmed the news in a very sweet but very tear-jerking message. Taking to her Instagram stories, she wrote" "Hi! This is one of my best friends in the whole world and favorite people on the planet Malcolm McCormick [Mac Miller's real name]," she wrote.
"I respect and adore him endlessly and am grateful to have him in my life in any form, at all times regardless of how our relationship changes or what the universe holds for each of us!"
Here's an idea: why don't we all just keep our noses out of the relationships of other people? That'd be good, wouldn't it?
