The star, who is best known for her impressive vocal range as well as her soft voice, recently confused fans after switching her tone from what has been described as her "real" voice to a more high-pitched one during an episode of Penn Badgley's Podcrushed podcast.

In the clip, which dropped on Monday (June 17), the 30-year-old joked that she felt "like Austin Powers being unfrozen" after she'd spent the past 10 days "literally living" in the recording studio.

"That's the only thing I thought of, that's how I felt. I was like 'What has happened?' Yeah, I don't know," in a slightly deeper voice than people are used to hearing from her.

However, she then appeared to switch back to the softer, high-pitched voice that people know her for mid-sentence as she discussed releasing more songs for her latest album, Eternal Sunshine, which was released back in March.

Have a look at the moment below:

"Yeah, I've been writing a lot. Maybe there's some more. I would like to do a deluxe version at some point," she said in the clip.

Naturally, fans were left confused at the sudden change and decided to call her out on it on X.

"Ariana Grande is mad scary bc why did she do a voice change like it was nothing in the middle of that interview?????????" wrote one user, while another added: "This voice change is sending me... Regular Ariana was coming out for a second."

Now the singer herself has addressed all the talk about her voice, putting an end to the rumors once and for all.

Under a video which obviously pointed out the switch up, she commented: "Habit (speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health... I intentionally change my vocal placement (high / low) often depending on how much singing i’m doing.

"I’ve always done this BYE," she added.

And it seems as though the haters were well and truly silenced.

Grande has been working alongside actress Cynthia Erivo in Wicked, where she takes on the role of Glinda. The role involves her playing an ethereal "good" witch who also seems to use a glittery, soft tone - similar to that of Grande's - so it's seemingly the perfect role for the star.

Many fans also wondered whether the voice change is linked to that, with many referencing Austin Butler's Elvis reincarnation as another example of how playing a character can actually seep into people's real lives.

"Ariana Grande's Glinda voice is the new Austin Butler Elvis voice," wrote one user.

"I need ariana grande and austin butler in a variety actors on actors video together," added another.

I mean, that video, I would love to see.
