Avicii's ex-girlfriend has tragically died aged 34.

Emily Goldberg passed away on April 3 in La Jolla, California, according to her official obituary.

In the tribute, she was described as a "vivacious and unique person who experienced many adventures in her all too brief life."

The family also disclosed her career path, stating that after graduating college, the 34-year-old joined other DJs on an EDM music tour before going on to work in event planning and social media marketing for a hotel in Las Vegas.

Towards the end of her life, she then found herself in the world of American and Japanese wrestling before her life was changed by a cancer diagnosis.

In 2022, she began treatment for an undisclosed cancer as per her final Instagram post, but confirmed that she was now at the end of her treatment, beating the disease.

"I am now cancer free," she wrote in the caption of the post alongside a Snapchat photo of herself seemingly laying in a hospital bed with the caption "I lived b****" written across it.

Despite the good news, Goldberg suffered from a pulmonary embolism - a life-threatening condition in which one or more arteries in the lungs have been blocked by a blood clot - which tragically claimed her life last month.

Prior to her death, she dedicated a tribute to her late ex-boyfriend, Avicii.

The producer and DJ, whose real name is Tim Bergling dated Emily Goldberg between 2011 and 2013 before he tragically took his own life just five years later.

"Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.' Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me," she captioned the post. “I wish I could have lived up to them."

She continued: "For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again. I’m still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts.

"Wake me up when it’s all over, because I don’t want it to be real," she concluded, referencing one of the DJ's most popular songs.

Avicii died by suicide while on vacation in Muscat, Oman, at the age of 28.

“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman, this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th," the producer's family said in a statement to PEOPLE.

"The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time," it continued. “No further statements will be given."

Two years before his death, Avicii announced his retirement from touring in a letter to his fans.

"We all reach a point in our lives and careers where we understand what matters the most to us. For me it’s creating music. That is what I live for, what I feel I was born to do," he said via his official website. "Last year I quit performing live, and many of you thought that was it. But the end of live never meant the end of Avicii or my music. Instead, I went back to the place where it all made sense - the studio."

"The next stage will be all about my love of making music to you guys. It is the beginning of something new," he concluded. "Hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do."

Goldberg is survived by her parents, Julie and Sam Goldberg of La Jolla, and brother Aaron Goldberg.
