John Cena shocked fans across the world as he took to the stage at the Oscars wearing no clothes - and a behind-the-scenes video shows how he quickly got changed into a dress.

Jimmy Kimmel set the stage by reminiscing about a legendary streaking incident from the 1974 Awards, clearly setting up the punch-line for a similar incident this year.

Little did anyone anticipate that Cena would be the punchline.

Emerging from the wings shirtless, Cena initially hesitated to fully commit to the gag, expressing reservations about baring it all. However, with Kimmel's coaxing, he eventually mustered the courage to stride onto the stage, albeit with only an envelope preserving his modesty.

Ironically, Cena had the honor of presenting the award for Best Costume Design, a fact not lost on the amused audience.

After the nominations were read out, Cena suddenly had a beautiful dress on... which almost looked like he had some curtains thrown over him.

A behind-the-scenes video, seemingly captured from the audience shows how quickly the change took place... with some viewers getting a glimpse of Cena's butt.

A team of four people swept in showing the true masterful skill of quick changes (or in this case just getting dressed), and as the lights came up, Kimmel was posed to make it look like he was the one who dressed the wrestler.

The audience naturally gave a massive cheer, not only because of Cena's naked body but for the skilled dressers who managed to get him changed so quickly. Check out the moment below:

The moment was dubbed the "best Oscars moment in a decade," by one delighted X user, while others chimed in stating how hilarious they found the skit.

Cena, mainly known for his time with the WWE, has branched into the world of show-biz lately with roles in Peacemaker and Barbie.

Margot Robbie in an exclusive interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet recounted how Cena's involvement wasn't initially planned, but a chance encounter led to him donning merman attire for the role.

"I ran into him because I went to pay the bill, and they were like, 'John Cena already took care of it.' I was like, 'What? Where is he?' I mean, he's a big guy. Yeah, I couldn't see him. But I was like, he's hard to hide," Robbie said.

With Cena shooting nearby at Leavesden, where Barbie was also being filmed, Robbie seized the moment, extending an impromptu invitation: "Do you want to come be a merman in Barbie?' and he was like: 'Uh, yeah.'"

What will Cena get up to next?
