John Cena left everyone in stitches as he took to the stage at the Oscars butt-naked... but some conspiracy theorists believe there was something more sinister behind the skit.

In case you missed it, Jimmy Kimmel - who was hosting the evening - was telling the audience about the 1974 Academy Awards where a streaker took to the stage to disrupt the show, and then declared how funny it would be if it happened again.

Do you see where this is going?

Cena then poked his head out from the wings and it soon became clear that the WWE superstar wasn't wearing any clothes, but seemed hesitant to get involved with the sketch... which was all part of the comedy. Check out the skit below:

Kimmel eventually convinced the DC star to walk out onto the stage, and the audience was treated to Cena's physique in full view, with nothing except a large envelope covering his manhood.

Hilarious, right? Well, not according to some conspiracy theorists who believe that it was all part of some Illuminati humiliation ritual. This was fueled on by the fact that - in the last year - Cena has played a mermaid in the Barbie movie and started an OnlyFans account to promote his latest movie, Ricky Stanicky.

Taking to X, one person wrote: "John Cena going through an intense Illuminati Humiliation Ritual right now at the Oscars... This is next level stuff they have put Cena through lately... Was the fame and fortune worth it John?"

"Hollywood humiliation ritual is so real man, this guy has been marketing children for a decade and now he’s dressing up as women in movies and embarrassing himself on live television," one X user added.

"You cannot deny this anymore. This is a Hollywood Humiliation ritual. They got John Cena to do this in the Oscars! If you don’t believe this is not a real thing. You are definitely clueless," another person wrote.

Another person believed that Cena wasn't the only one going through this, as they wrote: "Slash performing I’m Just Ken at the Oscars next to Ryan Gosling in his sparkly hot pink suit is a worse humiliation ritual than John Cena parading on stage naked."

But what exactly is a humiliation ritual?

Well, according to conspiracy theorists online, celebrities will take part in "rituals" that humiliate them in private settings, or in this case in public, which is a sacrifice to the "higher being" that grants them fame.

It all links to the so-called Illuminati, who allegedly control every aspect of the celebrity's lives and are forced to take part in these "humiliation rituals" in order to maintain their status in the world of stardom.

I'll be honest, it sounds like some people are looking for deeper meaning in what is clearly a joke.

What Cena did was vulnerable... but as a man with a body that looks like it was sculpted by Michelangelo, it's doubtful he felt self-conscious.

Some people just commit to comedy, and there's nothing wrong with that.
