Bella Thorne has been slammed by some fans over her "tone-deaf" Halloween costume.

Halloween was a strange affair for many of us this year, with large parties and gatherings taking a back seat as social distancing continues in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

However, that didn't mean that Instagram wasn't still awash with people sharing their costume efforts for the year.

Heidi Klum and her family, for instance, got incredibly creative for the spooky season this year.

"Halloween is different this year, but that shouldn’t stop us from getting creative at home. Be safe, be spooky, and spend time with family." The model wrote.

The result of their creativity? A near-six-minute horror movie featuring, toilet roll, body paint, zombie children, and a lot of laughs and scares.

However, not everyone's costume went down so well, and some commenters on Bella Thorne's Instagram page were left less than impressed by the former Disney star's choice of outfit.

The 23-year-old actress and OnlyFans creator wore a police officer costume comprising of a black bra, shorts, fishnets and thigh high boots, as well as a fake gun and police hat.

Meanwhile, her boyfriend Benjamin Mascolo was dressed as an inmate, wearing an orange jumpsuit.

Taking to Instagram to share a series of snaps of their pair in their respective get-ups, Thorne wrote:

"I broke him out of prison because I fell in love ??

Also stoked u guys chose this look ?"

However, while some fans took to the comments section of the post to praise the 23-year-old for how good she looked, others were more critical of her choice to dress as a police officer in the context of 2020 and the issues that have been protested this year.

"I don’t think being a cop was the best choice this year." One fan wrote, while another added, "Police? Read the room".
