Ben Affleck sends video to woman who unmatched him on dating app after thinking he was a catfish

Ben Affleck has apparently gone out of his way to prove his identity after a woman unmatched him on a dating app thinking it was a catfish.

Taking to TikTok, the 'Gone Girl' actor's would-be date Nivine Jay claimed to her 44.2K followers that she had once matched with Ben Affleck on celebrity dating app Raya.

After thinking she had been catfished, Jay unmatched him only for the keen actor insist that he was legit.

Reflecting on her regretful decision, she captioned the short video: "Sorry Ben."

In the viral TikTok video, Jay included the clip Affleck had sent her confirming his identity.

"Nivine, why did you unmatch me?" He asks in the clip, before telling her: "It's me."

Jay's video became an instant hit online, racking up 7.4 million views and 14.3K comments in just 24 hours.

The comments were a mixed bag with some sharing their excitement at the prospect of an A-List celeb appearing on a dating app, while others branded the 'Batman' actor "creepy".

One person commented: "You could've been with Batman himself."

Another person wanted to know more, asking: "When famous people are on like dating websites like Tinder, etc do they use personal photos or just Google their name and use those pics?"

However, others were slightly more taken aback by the lengths Affleck went to in order to prove his identity, with one saying: "The way he said 'it's me' not only would we stay unmatched, he would be blocked."

Others said Affleck's video frightened them, with one asking: "Why did this scare me instead?"

Jay has since defended the actor in the wake of her TikTok post, telling E! News: "I'm seeing a lot of comments calling him a creep, and l don't think that's fair. l wasn't making fun of him in the video.

"I was making fun of myself for thinking he was a catfish, and it was just supposed to be funny."

Affleck has yet to respond to Jay's claim that he slid into her DMs.
