This past November, a then 17-year-old Billie Eilish sat down with Vanity Fair to talk about her career has progressed over the years.

In that same interview, it came to people's attention that the teenager and 33-year-old rapper Drake text each other.

"Drake is like the nicest dude I've ever spoken to. I mean, I've only like texted him, but he's so nice," she said in the interview. "Like, he does not need to be nice, you know what I mean? He's at a level in his life where he doesn't need to be nice, but he is, you know?"

Watch as Billie Eilish gets candid about her Tourette syndrome:

A number of those who watched the interview then took to social media to brand Drake's behavior as "creepy".

"is it bad that i’m watching a billie eilish interview and she’s like “drake is like the nicest dude i’ve spoken to” and the f*ckin sirens started going off in my brain lol," wrote one.

"Just thinking about Billie Eilish saying she dresses in baggy clothes to avoid being sexualised and then revealing Drake is texting her," another added. "It's almost as if it doesn't matter how we dress or present ourselves, men will always prey on young women."

And now, the 18-year-old singer has finally responded to the backlash, branding the naysayers as being too "sensitive".

"The internet is such a stupid-ass mess right now," she told Vogue. "Everybody’s so sensitive. A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist? There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about. Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the f*ck is that sh*t?"

In spite of her strongly-worded defense of Drake, many Twitter users continue to insist that it was inappropriate for a 33-year-old to text a 17-year-old girl.

"Billie Eilish saying Drake, in his 30s, texting her at 17, isn't bad or wrong just shows his grooming is working I'd be extremely uncomfortable if a 30 year old man was texting me at 16-17 Drake shouldn't be texting ANY underaged girl," one person wrote.

"i still don’t trust drake around young girls but maybe billie will realize how gross it is that grown men are so interested in her when she’s a little older cause when you’re her age that all seems normal," added another."

"anyway we cant convince billie to change her mind and we cant blame her bc shes a young artist. she'll also think it'd be cool to be friends with a senior artist she probably respects, but i really hope drake receives the consequences for being a creep all the time soon," wrote a third.
