Billie Eilish has responded after Kanye West called her out for what he perceived as an attack on his friend and fellow rapper Travis Scott.
Yesterday, the 'Gold Digger' rapper, 44, took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a post from a hip hop news account on the app. In the caption, Kanye urged Billie to apologize after apparently throwing shade at Travis in the middle of her concert for the way he handled the deadly November crowd surge at his Astroworld festival.
And one of the commenters was none other than Billie herself. Defending her words, the 'Bored' hitmaker simply wrote: "Literally never said a thing about Travis. Was just helping a fan."
It all started when @rapseatv posted a split image featuring the 20-year-old electropop artist and the 30-year-old father of two with the headline: "BILLIE EILISH DISSED TRAVIS SCOTT AT HER CONCERT AFTER SHE STOPPED THE SHOW TO GIVE HER FAN AN INHALER! 'I WAIT FOR THE PEOPLE TO BE OKAY BEFORE I KEEP GOING.'"
Billie was praised for her actions earlier this week, with many fans and media outlets assuming her comments to be a sly dig at Travis.
According to the outlet, she indirectly shaded Travis for supposedly not waiting for his fans "to be okay" before continuing his concert in November, which saw 10 young people die following a crowd surge.
Kanye and Travis both share connections with the Kardashian-Jenner clan, with the former in the middle of divorce proceedings with Kim Kardashian and the latter in a relationship with Kim's youngest sister Kylie Jenner.
And just like family would, Kanye is fighting Travis' corner amid the backlash and increasing lawsuits that followed his deadly concert.
So, in the caption of his post yesterday, the ever-outspoken entertainer shared a public message to Billie, urging her to apologize - not only to Travis but to the families whose loved ones died at the festival. Ye even threatened to cancel his upcoming performance at Coachella if an apology was not forthcoming.
In all caps, he wrote: "COME ON BILLIE WE LOVE YOU PLEASE APOLOGIZE TO TRAV AND TO THE FAMILIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES NO ONE INTENDED THIS TO HAPPEN TRAV DIDN’T HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHEN HE WAS ON STAGE AND WAS VERY HURT BY WHAT HAPPENED AND YES TRAV WILL BE WITH ME AT COACHELLA BUT NOW I NEED BILLIE TO APOLOGIZE BEFORE I PERFORM."
In less than 24 hours, the post has racked up 1.2 million likes and nearly 90,000 comments, with Billie responding just an hour after it was uploaded.
