In a recent interview, Billie Eilish opened up about how she had dealt with "hatred" for her body, revealing that she took diet pills at the age of 12.

Eilish has widely been hailed as a prodigy since emerging on the music scene some years back. She famously recorded her hit song 'Ocean Eyes' when she was just 14 and won five out of her six Grammy nominations at the age of 18.

However, the 19-year-old has been very open about the negative sides of fame as well as her own personal struggles.

Last year, Billie Eilish made this powerful statement on body shaming:

The teenager quickly became known for her signature style, which included baggy clothing. The reason for her baggy style was practical: she didn't want people making judgments about her body.

However, in 2020, when photographs of Billie dressed in a vest top and shorts surfaced online, a number of trolls started to comment on her body.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, she said of the experience:

"I think that the people around me were more worried about it than I was because the reason I used to cut myself was because of my body. To be quite honest with you, I only started wearing baggy clothes because of my body.

"I was really, really glad though, mainly, that I’m in this place in my life, because if that had happened three years ago, when I was in the midst of my horrible body relationship – or dancing a ton, five years ago, I wasn’t really eating. I was, like, starving myself."

Billie then recalled her experience with diet pills, telling the publication: "I remember taking a pill that told me that it would make me lose weight and it only made me pee the bed – when I was 12."

She added: "It's just crazy. I can’t even believe, like I – wow. Yeah. I thought that I would be the only one dealing with my hatred for my body, but I guess the internet also hates my body. So that’s great."

When it was implied by Vanity Fair that the internet might "hate all women's bodies", Billie agreed, saying: "The internet hates women."
