Billie Eilish has spoken out about her experience with body shaming, saying the internet "hates women."
At the start of her career, the teenager quickly became known for her signature style as well as her incredible vocals. Billie's outfits were primarily made up of baggy tops and sweatshirts.
The reason for her baggy style was practical: she didn't want people making judgments about her body.
However, last year, when photographs of Billie dressed in a vest top and shorts surfaced online, a number of trolls started to comment on her body.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, she said of the experience:
"I think that the people around me were more worried about it than I was, because the reason I used to cut myself was because of my body. To be quite honest with you, I only started wearing baggy clothes because of my body.
"I was really, really glad though, mainly, that I’m in this place in my life, because if that had happened three years ago, when I was in the midst of my horrible body relationship—or dancing a ton, five years ago.
"I wasn’t really eating. I was, like, starving myself. I remember taking a pill that told me that it would make me lose weight and it only made me pee the bed—when I was 12.
"I can’t even believe, like I—wow. Yeah. I thought that I would be the only one dealing with my hatred for my body, but I guess the internet also hates my body. So that’s great."
When it was implied by Vanity Fair that the internet might "hate all women's bodies", Billie agreed, saying: "The internet hates women."
Last year, the 19-year-old Grammy winner made a short film, which saw her disrobe from a black hoodie into a bra, before then sinking into a black liquid.
“Do you know me?” her voiceover asks. “Really know me? You have opinions about my opinions, about my music, about my clothes, about my body.”
