Billie Eilish has further opened up about her sexuality in a new red-carpet interview.

Last month, the 21-year-old chart-topper featured in a new cover story for Variety, where she opened up about being both attracted to and intimidated by other women.

Admitting that she's always struggled to be a "girls girl", the 'Bad Guy' singer told the outlet that she "never really felt like [she] could relate to girls very well".

However, she would go on to tell Variety: "I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real […] I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence."

This led to many people questioning if this was Eilish directly coming out - as she has always remained very private about her relationships and sexuality

The singer has only ever been in public relationships with men - most recently with 32-year-old rocker Jesse Rutherford. The pair broke up back in May of this year.

Eilish has also previously been accused of "queerbaiting" with her art. But in a 2021 interview with Elle, she hit out at critics by saying her sexuality was no one else's business.

But on Saturday (December 2), Eilish attended Variety’s seventh annual Hitmakers brunch at NYA West in Los Angeles. Check out her interview below:

While on the red carpet, she spoke with Tiana DeNicola about her November Variety cover story. After DeNicola spoke out about the love the singer had received from women about her comments, a coy Eilish responded: "I'm still scared of [women], but I think they're pretty."

As the pair started giggling, DeNicola asked: "Billie! Did you mean to come out in the story?"

To which, the singer responded: "Girl... no I didn't. But I kinda thought... wasn't it obvious? Like, it's kinda been...I didn't realize people didn't know."

After DeNicola expressed a desire that society would one day reach a point where people didn't have to come out, Eilish responded: "I just don't really believe in it. Why can't we just exist? I've been doing this for a long time and I just didn't talk about it."

"But I saw the article and I was, like, 'I guess I came out today!"

Eilish then admitted that she's still "nervous" discussing her sexuality, but DeNicola perfectly put her at ease.

Fortunately, the singer has an incredibly supportive fanbase, and people were quick to take to social media to praise Eilish. "I'm happy for her," one person replied.

A second added: "Good for her. I'm glad she can live life to its fullest, it's just sad things like that are considered important character traits when it should be as irrelevant as her shoe size."

Later in the evening, Eilish and her brother/collaborator Finneas accepted the Film Song of the Year Award for their ballad 'What Was I Made For', which featured in the summer blockbuster Barbie.
