Billie Eilish has opened up in a recent interview about how she was "raw dogging" life, and also how she eventually stopped.

Being one of the biggest music artists on the planet has a lot of perks, but can also come with some downsides.

For Eilish, it appears as though she battled loneliness while attempting to come to terms with being in the spotlight.

In a candid conversation on BBC Sounds' Miss Me? With hosts Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver, Eilish revealed a life-changing realization about her personal relationships.

Having shot to fame as a teenager with her breakout hit 'Ocean Eyes', Eilish has spent much of her life in the public eye.

This early fame came with its share of difficulties, including being hyper-sexualized as a minor and dealing with tumultuous relationships behind the scenes.

However, it was on her 20th birthday that she came to a painful realization - despite her success, she felt completely alone.

Speaking on the podcast, Eilish explained that as she looked around the table on her birthday, she saw only people she had hired, noting that many of her friends had become part of her professional team.

The isolation became even more apparent when her best friend decided to quit, leaving her feeling adrift.

"I didn’t really have anyone around me at all," Eilish shared. "If I was in a relationship, that person would be my only friend, even if I wasn’t sure I wanted to be with them."

The situation came to a head months ago at Coachella, but it also marked a turning point for the singer.

After ending her relationship with Jesse Rutherford last year, Eilish made a conscious effort to reconnect with old friends and put herself out there to make new ones.

Unbeknownst to her at the time, she was on a mission to rebuild her social circle.

During Coachella, this personal journey culminated in a touching moment. The 'Bad Guy' singer recalled how her brother, Phineas, pointed out how surrounded by friends she had become.

“Phineas was like, ‘Billie, look how deep you're rolling,’ and I was like, ‘I know,’ and we get in the car, and I got in the car with all these—all of my friends,” she shared.

Overwhelmed by the realization that she had successfully built a new circle of support, Eilish broke down in tears.

“I was like, ‘Guys, I have friends, and I love you.’ I was like, ‘I just love you guys so much, and it’s been so long since I’ve had friends,’ and I cried, and they held me,” she said.

This emotional breakthrough made Eilish understand how much she needed friendship in her life.

She admitted that she had been "raw-dogging life" alone for far too long and realized she couldn't continue without the support of friends.

“I couldn’t go on without friends,” she said, adding that “friendship is like the best part of my life.”
