It was revealed on August 29 that Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman passed away after a four-year battle with colon cancer.

Now, the Marvel franchise's executive producer, Nate Moore, has shared the final text message he received from Boseman.

The pair had worked together as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation to do something special for unwell children using his role as T'Challa.

Speaking to People, Moore revealed: "It was during lockdown, and we worked together to get a young boy a voice note from T'Challa, as well as a package of toys – no easy feat when we weren't allowed to leave our homes or go to the office."

Boseman, however, found a way to get around it, and managed to get the message to the young boy.

The actor then sent Moore an emotional final text message about how the experience impacted him. Per Moore, Boseman said: "It broke me, man, but we need to do that for them. People deserve abundant life, special moments. They've been through hell battling disease."

"If we were able to ease their suffering and bring joy for a moment, and hopefully moments has he goes through the bags, then we made a difference in his life," Boseman continued.

"Again, hindsight will tell us that Chad felt that way because he too was battling a disease. But I don’t think that’s true. I think that’s just who he was as a man. A leader and a caregiver first, who accomplished both of those things as a performer and as a regular person," Moore added.

The South Carolina-born star passed away at his Los Angeles home last week, his family confirmed in a statement.

Posting to social media, Boseman's family revealed that he had in fact been diagnosed with the disease back in 2016 - choosing to keep the situation away from the public eye as he continued to make movies.

They also revealed that Boseman had been surrounded by loved ones when he passed, writing:

"A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much.

From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and several more - all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T'Challa to life in Black Panther."
