Britney Spears 'checks herself into rehab' after being arrested
Britney Spears has reportedly checked herself into rehab following her arrest for a DUI.
The 44-year-old singer has voluntarily gone to a treatment facility, her representative told several outlets on Sunday.
Britney Spears was arrested in March
On March 4, Spears was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
Her spokesperson described the incident as ‘completely inexcusable’ and said that the star’s family would ‘come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being’.
Now, she has entered treatment just three weeks before she is set to appear in court in California to face that charge.
The singer was allegedly driving ‘erratically at a high rate of speed’ down the highway, according to California Highway Patrol.
When pulled over, she showed ‘signs of impairment’ and was given field sobriety tests to perform.
Following that arrest, her rep said: "Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney's life.
"Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.
"Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being."
