A 2003 interview of Britney Spears "destroying" Tucker Carlson has resurfaced on Twitter.

This comes after the release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears, which charts the pop singer's rise to fame and notorious 2007 mental health struggles.

Britney's troubles subsequently led to her father, Jamie Spears, being named her conservator in 2008 - a role she is now battling to have him removed from to regain total control of her own life.

The documentary also highlights how poorly Britney was treated by the media prior to her breakdown and features a number of controversial interviews.

One of these controversial interviews was conducted by Fox News host Tucker Carlson in 2003 - a then CNN commentator.

Watch the interview below:

When Carlson shows a then 21-year-old Britney a magazine cover that features her holding her stomach with the caption "Britney’s belly-busting lunch", she completely takes it in her stride.

Apparently not having seen the cover before, Britney says in response: "I guess my food must have been really good."

He also asked Britney what kind of Pepsi she dinks, skeptical that she was actually familiar with the product she was known for promoting at the time.

Quickly biting back, Spears once again had the perfect response and said: "My favorite kind of Pepsi? Pepsi's Pepsi."

People also objected to Carlson's post-interview conversation with CNN host Anderson Cooper.

Per The Independent, when he quipped about Britney chewing gum, Carlson said: "She seemed very young. Younger than a person who would bear her midriff. I mean, the impression I came away with was that it would be wrong to have adult thoughts about Britney Spears. She may be 21 but she seems, again, young."

Carlson went on to make openly misogynistic comments about Spears later in his career, describing her and Paris Hilton as "the biggest white wh*res in America".

Framing Britney Spears also features interviews that weigh in on how she has been treated by her father, such as that with Jive Records marketing executive Kim Kaiman, who worked with Spears during the early part of her career.

He said of her father Jamie: "The only thing Jamie ever said to me was: 'My daughter is going to be so rich she’s going to buy me a boat' - that's all I'm gonna say about Jamie."

The documentary is currently available to view on Hulu.
