Britney Spears is planning to ‘officially retire’, her longtime manager says
Britney Spears' longtime manager has revealed that the star is planning to "officially retire".
Larry Rudolph - who has managed the singer for years - has announced that he's stepping down from his role as Britney's manager in a new letter published by Deadline.
The letter was originally addressed to the co-conservators of the 'Toxic' singer, 39, her father Jamie and her caregiver Jodi Montgomery.
"It has been over two-and-a-half years since Britney and I last communicated, at which time she informed me she wanted to take an indefinite work hiatus. Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire," Rudolph reportedly said.
"As you know, I have never been a part of the conservatorship nor its operations, so I am not privy to many of these details. I was originally hired at Britney's request to help manage and assist her with her career.
"And as her manager, I believe it is in Britney's best interest for me to resign from her team as my professional services are no longer needed.
"Please accept this letter as my formal resignation."
The letter added: "I will always be incredibly proud of what we accomplished over our 25 years together. I wish Britney all the health and happiness in the world, and I'll be there for her if she ever needs me again, just as I always have been."
News of Britney's alledged retirement comes amid her battle to have her conservatorship removed.
She told a Los Angeles courtroom on June 23 that it is having a detrimental effect on her life.
"It is my wish and dream for all of this to end. I want my life back," she told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny.
"I truly believe this conservatorship is abusive… I want to end the conservatorship without being evaluated. I want to petition to end the conservatorship."
The singer went on to accuse her father Jamie of controlling her "100,000%" and preventing her from having more children by forcing her to stay on intravenous contraception as well as putting her on the psychiatric drug lithium, according to the BBC.
However, Associated Press reports that a long legal process must take place before Britney's conservatorship can be removed.
