Britney Spears has opened up about her health.

The pop star recently took to Instagram to reveal that she has incurable nerve damage on the right side of her body.

Spears, 40, broke the sad news to her 41.7 million followers alongside a video of herself dancing to the song Pumped Up Kicks.

The singer began by explaining that she has "nerve damage on the right side of [her] body", adding: "There’s no cure except God I guess."

"Nerve damage is caused sometimes when you don’t get enough oxygen to your brain," she continued, adding: "Your brain literally shuts down."

Britney - who was released from her controversial conservatorship last year - went on to describe how the damage had impacted her life, writing: "Nerve damage causes parts of your body to go numb."

"I wake up like 3 times a week in bed and my hands are completely numb … nerves are tiny and it feels like pins and needles from the right side of my body it shoots up to my neck and the part that hurts the worst is my temple on my head … it stings and it’s scary," she described.

The 'Baby One More Time' singer also explained how posting dance videos on her Instagram had helped her get through the pain. "When I dance I don't feel the pain … it's like my mind literally goes to a place of my inner child," she wrote.

Britney concluded by saying that, although she can't "move like [she] used to", she is feeling better thanks to finding the correct medication.

"By the grace of God I finally found a medication where I actually feel oxygen going to my brain and through my neck … my eyes are more open now and I can hold my head up correctly," she told her fans.

The star added that thanks to her medication, she can breathe better, feels smarter, and can dance more in time to the music.

"I'm getting a lot better, I can breathe … I feel smarter because well, Jesus I can breathe now … either way, I'm breathing now and I can dance in time," she wrote.

We wish Britney the very best as she navigates her health journey.
