Bruce Springsteen has expressed profound disappointment as he had to postpone his tour dates due to health concerns.
The 73-year-old rock legend announced on his website that he and his E Street Band would be rescheduling this month's performances as he will undergo treatment for peptic ulcer disease.
According to the Mayo Clinic, peptic ulcer disease causes open sores to develop on the inside lining of your stomach and the upper portion of your small intestine.
The medical report stated that the most common causes are infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) and long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). In addition, stress and spicy foods can make your symptoms worse.
The 20-time Grammy Award winner and the E Street Band kicked off their 2023 tour on February 1 in Tampa, Florida. Since then, they have made stops across North America and Europe.
Springsteen was due to play tomorrow in Syracuse, New York at the JMA Wireless Dome and had subsequent gigs spanning locations such as Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Washington, DC, Connecticut, and Ohio.
However, they will now be played at later dates as the 'Born To Run' singer - affectionately known as 'The Boss' to his multitude of fans - has revealed in a heartbreaking statement shared on his social media.
"Over here on E Street, we're heartbroken to have to postpone these shows," the 'Dancing in the Dark' musician wrote. "First, apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago."
"We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support. We’ve been having a blast at our US shows and we’re looking forward to more great times. We’ll be back soon," he concluded.
Springsteen's website states that those who purchased tickets will "receive information regarding rescheduled dates for the postponed shows" in the future.
This is the third time the 'Born in the USA' hitmaker has had to abruptly postpone concerts due to illness this year, following three affected shows in March and two in August in Philadelphia.
His next tour date is set for the Rogers Arena in Vancouver on November 3.
We hope Springsteen gets well soon!
