Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston says he is "one of the lucky ones" after revealing that he has overcome the novel coronavirus.

He urged his followers to wear a face mask, having explained that he had contracted the virus despite "adhering to the protocols."

Cranston, who played Walter White in the smash hit series Breaking Bad, took to Instagram yesterday to reveal the news that he had tested positive for the coroanvirus. He wrote:

"COVID-19 announcement

"Hi. About now you’re probably feeling a little tied down, restricting your mobility and like me, you’re tired of this!! Well, I just want to encourage you to have a little more patience. I was pretty strict in adhering to the protocols and still... I contracted the virus. Yep. it sounds daunting now that over 150,000 Americans are dead because of it. I was one of the lucky ones. Mild symptoms. I count my blessings and urge you to keep wearing the damn mask, keep washing your hands, and stay socially distant. We can prevail - but ONLY if we follow the rules together. Be well - Stay well. BC"

In the video, Cranston can be seen standing outside the UCLA Blood & Platelet Centre, as he talked his fans through the process of donating his blood plasma. It is hoped that blood plasma containing COVID-19 antibodies can help others who are still trying to fight off the virus.

“This will help people recover faster and be used in scientific research studies about this virus,” reads a message shown in the clip, per the Independent.
